24 June 2009, Singapore - ‘Cats of The World’ Photo Exhibition is back for the third year running! This year the exhibition runs from 9 to 28 July 2009 at The Arts House and continues to spread the message about the joys of our feline friends and that cats all over the world are the same - lovable and purrrrfect!

A fun project put together by a group of cat-lovers with a keen interest in photography, this non-profit photo exhibition showcases 40 light-hearted snapshots of cats found all over the world, including countries like Greece, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Italy, Germany, Turkey and of course Singapore. The photos also captured cats in their element and showcase their unique personalities – graceful, lazy, sneaky, aloof, timid, loving etc - against various lovely settings and backdrops. 

The 40 cat pictures are contributed by 24 aspiring and professional photographers based in Singapore and overseas. There are two categories *A Casa - Homely Cats* and *Del Mondo - Worldly Cats.

“We are delighted that so many cat lovers are taking part this year and share our love for photography and cats via this fun, non-profit community project,” said the spokesperson for the exhibition. “Hopefully more people will come and view the exhibition and see cats in a different light.”

‘Cats of The World’ also raises funds for its adopted group ‘Cat Welfare Society’ - http://www.catwelfare.org/ - which aims to control the population of stray cats in Singapore via sterilisation. They depend on various fund-raising avenues such as photographers’ participation fees, sale of photos and merchandise such as magnets made by volunteers. Last year it raised S$1,122 for the Cat Welfare Society.
